With 137km long coastal line and a privileged areas of 180 square kilometers, the Central poor province of Ha Tinh annually catches 22,000 - 25,000 tonnes of aqua products, excluding figures of the outsiders. Ha Tinh has an area of 25,000 ha to be used for aqua product cultivation. These are advantages of the province which has awoken Ha Tinh people in recent years.

According to Tran Van Lieu deputy director of Ha Tinh aqua product department, the province now has 2,200 ha to raise prawn, with production output of 1,000 tonnes of prawn in the eight months of 2003. Total production output of prawn in the province estimates to reach 1,500--1,700 tonnes this year and prawn export value in 2003 of Ha Tinh will reach US$15 million.

From 2002 up to date, Ha Tinh has recruited 180,000 employees for cultivating and processing aqua products to push its exports. This is only initial important achievement of the province.
